From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
