The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
